Shropshire Union Canal Waymarks
Lead Partner: British Waterways

The Shropshire Union Canal is an important part of our industrial heritage yet today it is recreation that brings most visitors to the waterside. It still makes a valuable link between the communities of Chester and Ellesmere Port, so to celebrate this and encourage people along the towpath a series of marker posts are planned to show the strategic links between the canal and other important routes.

The Baker Way - Marches Way/ Sandstone Trail Link
Lead Partner: Cheshire County Council
The well established Marches Way and Sandstone Trail are long distance routes that mark the western and eastern boundaries of the southern half of the Dee Estuary Partnership area, meeting at its southern end.
| A path linking the two routes at their northern end would create a third long distance path starting from Chester Railway Station, also the starting point for the Marches Way, and going east to join the Sandstone Trail on top of Cheshire's central sandstone ridge.
